Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Combine all the chocolate cake ingredients except the eggs and mix with a hand blender for 5 minutes. Scrape down the sides of the bowl and add the eggs. Continue to mix on high for 3 minutes until batter is incorporated.
  3. Pour chocolate batter into a greased and floured a 9'x13' pan. Bake in oven for 25-30 minutes until toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let cake cool on a wire rack.
  4. Whisk the 2nd box of instant chocolate pudding powder with the milk in a bowl until it thickens, approximately 5 minutes. Cover and refrigerate.
  5. Whisk the heavy cream in a stand mixer until soft peaks form. Slowly add the powdered sugar and whisk until stiff peaks form. Add the softened cream cheese and mix until well incorporated.
  6. Cut the cake into 1 inch squares.
  7. To assemble the trifle: Use half of the cake cubes to cover the bottom of a clear trifle bowl. Top it with half of the chocolate pudding, half of the cherry pie filling, and half of the cream cheese mixture. Repeat this process.
  8. Cover and chill for at least 6 hours before serving.
